THREE SYSTEMS. ONE COMPLETE MARTIAL ARTS EDUCATION.
Integrated Submission Grappling blends Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Catch Wrestling, Sambo, Shooto, Judo, and traditional Jujutsu into one practical curriculum. Students learn takedowns, positional control, escapes, transitions, and carefully controlled submissions, building strength, problem-solving skills, and confidence both standing and on the ground.
Jujutsu is the traditional foundation of West Louisiana Jujutsu Training Academy. Students learn throws, off-balancing, joint locks, holds, and escapes, along with the etiquette, respect, and discipline of traditional martial arts, including how to use self-defense responsibly and when not to use it at all.
STX is our complete stand-up striking system, combining Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Savate, Kickboxing, Jun Fan/JKD, and Filipino Panantukan. Students learn punches, kicks, knees, elbows, footwork, and defense through pad, mitt, and heavy-bag work and controlled partner drills, building speed, endurance, coordination, and mental resilience.
SEE HOW West Louisiana Jujutsu Training Academy STACKS UP
Explore how our preteen and teen martial arts program compares with traditional team sports to see why martial arts may be a more beneficial and rewarding choice for your teen's overall growth and development.
Traditional sports sometimes focus more on physical performance and less on the holistic development of a young person, potentially neglecting important aspects like emotional intelligence and personal character development.
Team selections and competitive play can sometimes lead to exclusion or benching of less skilled players, which can be discouraging and impact their enthusiasm for physical activity.
A strong focus on winning can overshadow the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and simply enjoying the game, which are vital aspects of sports for young athletes.
In team sports, individual attention from coaches can be limited, which may hinder the personal skill development and confidence of less naturally talented athletes.
Martial arts is a great way for preteens and teens to improve their strength, endurance, speed, flexibility, and overall physical fitness through grappling, heavy-bag, and mitt training in an engaging and dynamic setting.
As students master new skills and earn belts, their confidence grows. This sense of achievement helps build their self-esteem and belief in their abilities.
Regular practice of martial arts requires discipline and concentration, skills that are transferable to all areas of life, including academic performance.
Students learn to respect their instructors and training partners, fostering an environment of mutual respect. They also develop better listening skills, which are crucial for learning and social interactions.
LIFELONG CHARACTER AND SUCCESS TRAITS
The pressures on today’s preteens and teens go well beyond their everyday friendships. Social media and the internet bring in influences that can shape how young people see themselves and others.
The true benefit of West Louisiana Jujutsu Training Academy is the character and success traits that develop through martial arts training.
Through learning Jujutsu, grappling, and striking, along with the guidance of our instructors and positive connections with fellow students, your teen will develop a strong set of skills, including how to solve problems under pressure and stay composed when things get hard.
FITNESS THAT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE A WORKOUT
Between busy schedules, long hours of sitting, and constant screen time, many preteens and teens aren’t getting enough regular exercise.
Our martial arts classes are full-body workouts built around skills students actually want to learn. Grappling drills, heavy-bag rounds, focus-mitt combinations, and partner activities keep the repetition of training engaging instead of tedious.
Regular exercise helps young people stay healthy, sleep well, manage stress, and develop their minds and bodies. Training builds cardiovascular endurance, strength, speed, coordination, balance, and agility, and helps establish the physical habits they need to carry into adulthood.
SELF-DEFENSE FROM BULLIES AND DANGEROUS SITUATIONS
We hope your teen never has to use these skills, but every parent wants their young person to be safe.
That’s why West Louisiana Jujutsu Training Academy takes self-protection seriously, teaching skills for a wide range of situations, from bullying at school to an unsafe encounter with a stranger. Jujutsu throws and escapes, STX striking, and Integrated Submission Grappling work together, because a confrontation may not stay at one range.
But knowing how to defend yourself is only part of the picture. Our classes also teach the respect, composure, and judgment needed to de-escalate situations whenever possible, and to recognize when physical action is the only way to stay safe.
ENJOY THE TRAINING
Preteens and teens deserve an activity they genuinely look forward to.
We aim to make every class engaging, motivating, and enjoyable. It takes real effort to design classes that build focus, respect, and discipline while keeping the energy up, and ours are created for exactly that. With varied drills, partner work, and new skills to learn, students stay challenged and rarely get bored.
It’s also a positive, supportive place to make friends with like-minded people, where encouragement and good humor are part of every class.
